Something to be Thankful for

We all had big plans for tonight. We were going to decorate the house. The kids have been looking forward to this for the whole week. Well, we all know how plans go. Instead of having a fun family night we ended up in the emergency room, when Sammy took a serious spill on his head. I will not go into details because it was honestly the most horrifying experience of my life.

This year I am truly thankful. I am most thankful for my children's lives. There have been so many times in my life, being sickness, broken bones, and all of the other ailments children have, that I have thought to myself, I would give up anything for her to be well or for his arm to not hurt. Anything! So, in times when I feel like everything is falling apart, I try to remember what I said I would give up for my children to be healthy. This past week it feels like everything in my house is broken. The washer, the dryer, the furnace, the bathroom, my bank account, but tonight I know these things mean nothing. It's too bad you always need a slap in the face to remember these things.

I want to say thank you to my kids for being so caring and loving. Looking out for and taking care of each other and making my life have meaning. I want to thank Myke for being so strong and holding everything together all the time, especially when I just can't take it. I want my mom to know I'm thankful for her intuition and helpfullness. I'm thankful to my sister for being such an awesome sister and friend and to my brother for being so helpful and unselfish and for fixing my furnace. I have so many wonderful people in my life. You guys really are the best. Happy Thanksgiving.

Up on my soapbox

I'm going out on a small limb here. If you don't want to read about my random thoughts...PLEASE DONT! Merci.

O.K generally I don't like to write serious posts. It's probably some kind of vulnerability issue I harbor but here goes. I've been thinking a lot about things lately (I know it's weird). I keep getting hit with a bunch of things that get my mind a whirlin'. I read a blog the other day about good friends and I wrote a comment about too bad we don't have more of them. So it got me thinking about people in general. Why are we all so on guard with other people? Why is it so hard to be friendly and make good friends? What's with all the walls? So anybody correct me if I'm wrong but I think for one thing people need to lighten up a bit and not think everyone else is out to hurt them. Most people aren't even thinking about the other person. This one day I was parking at a chevron and I hear this long honk. I look over and this guy was totally freaking out because some lady pulled into the spot he was going to park in. So, she realizes what she had done and I'm sure felt like a total idiot. But the man kept honking at her and yelling stuff out his window. She sat there for a minute with her small child in the back seat, reversed and left without even going into the store. Seriously??? Couldn't of he just parked somewhere else? And why didn't she just think oh well he'll get over it? He wasn't thinking about anyone but himself and she got her feelings hurt. That sounds a lot like what I see on an every day basis.

Then I was thinking what if everything is the way you see it? What if I walked around thinking everyone thought I was the coolest person ever. In my eyes I guess I would be the coolest person ever. So if you walk around thinking people are rude and lame, you probably aren't thinking your the coolest person ever, and if you're one of those people, who a lot would say are generally rude and lame, you should open your eyes and see people.

There are a few things I know... numero uno everyone has a story and if people could take in just a little bit of someone elses story and acknowledge that person as an entire person... who knows how much cooler this place could be. Numero dos always have a sense of humor and numero tres... Joshua Radin has got to be the saddest man alive because all of his songs are so darn sad. (which starts my winter playlist)

There you have it one super long thought by me.

Back in the Day

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about when Myke and I first met. There are a couple of reasons for that. Reason #1: November 1st was our first anniversary. It was the day when Myke and I started "going out". Cheezy, I know. We were 15, and sophomores at Brighton High school. We were in a history class together and he was always looking at me. he he. Oh, the good old times. Reason #2: My mom was my age when we met. Freaky!!! I know she was young but it really got me thinking of my kids. They are getting older all of a sudden. It's so chaotic. I know what I was doing in 6th grade and I don't want my 6th grader doing those things. Luckily, Myke said he was still interested in looking for gold coins, I on the other hand was looking for cute boys. I'm hoping my kids take after their dad in that category. I am a little nervous waiting to see what they are going to do. Fifteen isn't that far away. I don't think Myke and I were dumb teenagers so hopefully we don't raise them. I always knew when enough was enough and I think Myke did too (for the most part). Reason #3: I've been looking at old pictures. My sister said,"nothing like having a bunch of kids to ruin the fun."

A long, long time ago in 1991 when the grunge look was all the fashion...?
Going camping to do things we weren't suppose to be doing at our young age Friends from the past who in the end... done us wrong. Boo hoo... Big jerks!

Oooooooh Scaaaary

Ha Ha... Here are some funny pictures of the kids watching a scary movie. Hilarious!

We don't ever get scared when we watch scary movies. Yeah right. Except for when they pick some random scary movie...without their parents...in the dark.

Halloween 08'

This year we had a hectic but fun Halloween. We went to my sister's for her annual pumpkin carving party. Katie won a prize. She was sooo excited to win. Grandma also won a prize, I think she was more excited than Katie. Halloween was a little stressful. Getting all the kids up and ready in their costumes by 8:00 and sitting at the school waiting for over an hour for the parade to start. Luckily Grandma watched Sam, I'm pretty sure there would have been a major melt down if he would've attended. Meanwhile I'm thinking about all the things I need to get done at home before the night starts. After the parade I watched Katie's 4th grade performance. It was pretty cute. I finally got home around 10:45 and started a huge pot of chili. It was delicious if I must say so myself. Later on the kids' cousins came over to go trick or treating. I don't know how many of them actually ate dinner. They were so excited to go trick or treating they couldn't think about anything else. (Candy for dinner is way better than chili.) Finally, off they went, and I stayed home and passed out candy to all the cute kiddies. They all came home with tons of candy, and stayed up late eating candy and watching scary movies. Fun times and fun traditions!

Only one lame incident of the night... one of my neigbors that shall remain nameless but his name rhymes with "Lady Bensen" came over and demanded my car keys so he could take my car somewhere. UUUHHH NO! Then he said he wanted to talk to my mom so he could take her car. UUUHHH NO Dumb Ass! Then he left all pissed off and put out. Whatever! You know what Napolean.... You can leave.
