Football

Kyler has been loving football. He runs the plays in and usually plays on the line. At his last game he finally got the chance to catch the ball and run it. Well, he caught the ball. He ran the ball. There were boys all around. He was runnin' and runnin' and 5 yards short of a touch down he started slowing down and got tackled. Poor boy he thought he was in the end zone. Nope, five yards off. It was kinda sad, but he didn't care. He was just happy he got the ball thrown to him and he caught it.
I haven't remembered to take my camera to Jonas' football games yet. Myke decided he would give Jonas a dollar for every flag he got and five dollars for every touchdown. Last week he wanted that flag so bad, I've never seen that kids little legs run so fast and he finally got one. The next game he got a touchdown. Yea Jonas!!! I am so glad football is almost over. Besides worrying about them getting hurt, we only get Sundays off.

Blood Sweat and Tears

Katie's Birthday sleepover. I'm pretty sure someone was bleeding, I was definitely sweating and there was a few tears (almost my own). Katie said it was the worst birthday party she ever had. 20 some odd girls sleepin' at my house. I don't know how it happened... but it did. This is Katie, Kaitlyn N, and Alexis setting up for the party. Three girls, that was a good number.

And then... the party started. It was utter chaos! Girls everywhere! They were outside, inside, upstairs, downstairs. It was an infestation. They were yelling, screaming and running around like three year olds.

She got a ton of presents. She adored every one of them.
They laid down after midnight, but did not go to bed. They actually started fighting with each other. Telling secrets in the bathroom. Calling boys. Then the worst part of it... a couple of them started tattle tailing to me. "So and so is telling secrets, so and so is swearing, so and so keeps texting boys after you told her not to". And you are telling me this, WHY. Oh yeah I'm the responsible person for all these girls. So I just told them what I tell my own kids. Go tell So and so to stop doing that.
Thank The Lord that night is over!!!

Happy Birthday Katie!

Katie had a pre-birthday party last night with her grandparents, cousins, and aunt and uncles. She thought that was pretty cool, having a birthday before her birthday. We had chocolate cupcakes and for some reason the frosting kept falling off.Today was her real birthday. She was born on Labor Day too, which I always thought was funny. She said she had the best birthday ever. The funny thing is, is she said numerous times she keeps forgetting that it's her birthday. Hmmm? We met Mindie and Eliza for lunch at the Golden Coral. I'd have to say we all felt a little out of place. I don't think we are the buffet sort of people. Katie decided she wanted to go shopping for her birthday, instead of getting a bunch of presents. She of course had to go to Aeropostle first. She just loves that store. Then we went to Claire's and American Eagle. After that, off to Justice, but when we got there she looked a little frazzled. So we decided to take a little break and have coffee. (That's my girl). We decided to go to the shoe store before heading back to Justice, and were not impressed with the shoe selection, so back to Justice. She ended up getting a lot of cute stuff after all said and done. I'm really hoping that the things she got will end up matching. She loves shopping but she said she was glad we nixed the mall. She will definitely need a little more practice exercising her stamina in this category. Cake tonight was a little more up my ally... cheesecake...delicious. Now she's up in her room organizing and hanging up all her new clothes. She's so funny. We just love her. Happy Birthday Sweet Katie.
p.s. for some reason this stupid thing won't let me put any more pictures on there. Stupid thing!

Wide Reciever

Kyler has wanted to do football for about 2 years now, unfortunately for him, I wasn't a huge fan of the idea. Ky took karate for about 2 1/2 years. During this time he always wanted to stop and do something else. We told him he had to finish what he started and then we would talk about it. So the day finally came when he got his black belt. One of the first things he wanted to get into was football. I was able to hold off on that one for a little while, telling him he had to gain like 10 more pounds. All of a sudden the kid that couldn't possible eat one whole piece of pizza was eating three. To my dismay, he gained that weight rather quickly. So here we are at the beginning of football season.
This is Kyler doing his football throwing pose. What a funny kid.
These pictures are of tryouts. For six days in a row one of us took him to football tryouts. They were about three hours long, every day.
This is Kyler all ready for practice, which so far has been Mon.- Fri. 5:30 - 7:30 or so. EVERY DAY!!! Oh My! As far as the good news about this whole "my son playing football" goes is that he got the position he wanted most. Wide Receiver. Good job Ky! We are so proud of you.
If anyone at this point is wondering, "why does Kyler get to do all the activities and none of the other kids are signed up for anything?" It's because that kid is soooo damn persistent. He drives me crazy sometimes. He gets all the information, where?, when?,how much?, what he needs? He just really wants to do it, which is a lot more than I can say about my other kids, who change their minds anytime one of their friends' do anything. I just can't keep up with them, so I'll let them run around in circles until they can come up with what they really want to do.
p.s. Kyler's favorite song- Gives you Hell

The End of July

We had a super fun visit from my friend and her daughters. We hadn't seen Nicole in seven years and had never even met three of her daughters. Our kids didn't know each other so I had to come up with some kind of entertainment so they could socialize with each other and not feel uncomfortable. Thanks to The Branum's the water slide was a hit.

This is Brooklyn, Bree, Kyler, Kade, Jonas and Katie.

Hannah, Hallee, Samantha and ElizaSammy, just being goofy. We just love that belly and those man boobs.
This is little Bree. Sooo cute!
Eliza, Samantha, and Hannah doing some stretchy poses.
Brooklyn and Katie finally warmed up to each other toward the end of the evening. It's kind of sad that kids grow up and have a harder time befriending each other. Which is why you always keep your oldest friends forever. Nicole and I have been friends since about 5th or 6th grade. She will always be my bestest friend no matter how long we don't talk or see each other. It always feels the same, like we talk every day. I can't wait for them to move back here, so hopefully our kids can get to know each other a little better and we can see them more often. I honestly loved having them visit, the only problem is now I miss my friend more AND her girls.
And this picture here... the reason I don't post pictures of myself. Gag... I couldn't take a good picture to save my life!

The end of July means time for school again. This summer went by so fast. I really enjoyed being able to sleep a little later. Sammy got some new shoes, he loves them.

Here is Katie sporting a new school outfit. I have a really hard time buying school clothes in the middle of summer. I don't want to buy any more summer clothes and it's not really fall season yet... soooo... she got a couple of things. Jonas doesn't know what's going on so he can just wear his summer clothes, and Ky doesn't start school until uuuhhh...fall.

Katie and Jonas had a great first day of school. Katie started 5th grade and Jonas started 2nd grade. I was thinking when Sam goes to kindergarten, Jonas will be in the 6th grade, Katie in 9th and Kyler will be a junior in high school. I think life is crazy and chaotic now, just think what that will be like. That's only four years away.

Dog Days

We've been having lots of fun with Sophie. She's kind of a handful though. Between her and Sam, I don't know which one is worse. Sophie hovers around Sam, and Sam entices her with the baby smells of milk and whatever he had for lunch. Sophie knows he always has something delicious on his hands and sometimes even his tummy. Dogs and babies are pretty gross together, but I guess you learn to live with disgustingness... hopefully.

This is right before Sophie decided to pummel Sammy to the ground to get the hose. You can see the bad puppy look in her eyes. This is when she decided to get in the laundry basket and grab Myke's underwear. And yes, I had to take a picture before we got them away from her.
And how many boys does it take to wash a 9 week old puppy...?
Four... obviously
After her bath... 30 minutes of rolling around on the dirty ground.

Sophie mostly loves the kittys. Emily loves Sophie, except for when she's awake. Jake likes to tease her by being just out of reach. Ally doesn't want anything to do with that dog. Ally's definitely the wuss of the bunch.

Oh, how cute. Kyler sleeping with his dog. (The dog hair on the couch is a little annoying though)I like Sophie, she's a pretty good puppy. A lot better than most. She has already learned to sit, stay, come, and lie down. Now if I could just get her to stop barking at me when I'm trying to get her to stop biting me, I think we'll be in good shape. After having kids, I'm not really an animal person. I don't think I'll ever look at any of our animals as "my babies". To me they are just something else my kids want. And now that they are old enough, they can take care of their animals. Maybe eventually I'll learn to love em'.
Truthfully, my biggest problem with animals is that they die. When I was 10, I got my first cat. I loved that stupid cat and then it died 8 years later. Devastating. I try to tell my kids this small problem, but I guess they think it's worth the devastation. I hope so.

12

Happy Birthday Kyler!!!Sweet Kyler turned 12 today. He thought his birthday was pretty lame until...

he met Sophie Master Destroyer. Interesting name, super cute dog.

Kyler has been wanting a dog for awhile now, so we planned to surprise him for his birthday. Myke told him we were going to go out for breakfast at a bed and breakfast, so he wouldn't be too suspicious when we went to a weird house. The house was kinda trashy and not taken care of very well, so when we were walking up to the door Kyler kept asking,"are you sure this is the place, Dad?" You could tell he wasn't very comfortable with the situation, but he was going along with it. So we go inside and into the lady's kitchen, which was where the back door was. The lady asked him if he knew why he was there and he said he did, still thinking he was suppose to eat breakfast there. She went outside and brought him the puppy. It was so funny. He was so surprised. It was awesome. He said it was the best birthday he ever had. I picked out the name Sophie. She had to have a name I could actually call her, and if anyone knows my family, you would know the names they would have picked out would have been ridiculous... like Master Destroyer...which I guess must be her middle name. She is a super cute dog and so mellow. She loves the kids. I have a feeling she's going to be a great family dog.
Kyler loves KFC, so that's what he picked out for his dinner. Sam got a hold of the mashed potatoes and went to town.
Kyler isn't a huge fan of cake, so every year on his birthday we have a giant cookie. He loves chocolate chip cookies.

Then he finally got to play his football game he's been talking about for weeks. I think he really did have the best birthday ever.Kyler is such a great kid. He is so responsible and generous, and totally deserves a dog for his birthday. He makes being a parent pretty easy. We love him so much. Happy Birthday Ky!
